Dr. Hanna Frederick, chocolatier of Mamor Chocolates has done it again. On the heels of her wildly popular Tomcat(think chocolate Viagra) comes a new product for us gals, called Pocket Venus Aphrodisiac Chocolates(6pk for 20). It’s main ingredient is a Malaysian powerhouse called LABISIA PUMILA. (The plant actually comes in 3 different varieties all with different properties. You have LABISIA PUMILA ALATA, LABISIA PUMILA LANCEOLATA. The one found in Frecerick’s chocolate is LABISIA PUMILA PUMILA.)

The magical ingredient is a small herbaceous under scrub that roots from the stem. The leaves are dark green and the flowers bloom in either white or pink clusters. The long woody roots are usually boiled and drunk like a tea, not for its flavor but for its nutrition. LABISIA PUMILA contain Phyto-estrogens, and these wonderful things benefits including helping maintain a healthy reproductive systems, eases menopause, firms abdominal muscles, treats dysentery, rheumatism (and even gonorrhea). But Perhaps the most intriguing quality is that is tightens and firms the vaginal walls.

And so, just in time for Valentine’s Day, Dr. Frederick has harnessed the phyto-nutrient’s power in her naughty box of sweet delights. For a exciting one, two punch try the Tomcat & Pocket Venus chocolate boxes together. Mmmmmm mmmmm good. All product can be ordered from Mamor’s website http://www.mamorchocolates.com/.

Hope Family Wines has put their stamp on technology with their new Wine DJ iphone ap. You were probably expecting a program to help you pick wines. (I think there’s already an ap for that–we all know there’s one for the palm… that would be Amy Reiley’s Pocket Vineyard, introduced in 1999.) But this program selects the music to match your wine mood.

Think you don’t have a wine mood? The Hopes will show you that you do. (We’ve tried it. We’re the converted.) The one limitation is that you can only select from Hope Family’s Liberty School wines. (Lucky for all of us, Liberty School makes very good wine.) Once you select the wine you feel like drinking, you’ll be given a series of choices about the situation, for example, are you “flying solo or with an entourage”? Based on your answers, the ap provides you with a custom-made playlist from grooveshark.com. (Once you get the hang of it, you will find that you can apply the program to your favorite non-Liberty School wines. Hey, the Hopes still get the glory every time you use the ap even if they don’t get all of your sales!)
